The Greensboro Urban Project is a place where theology gets practical. Learning about the Biblical basis of God’s heart for the poor is complemented by embodying that heart on a daily basis through your interactions in the Glenwood Neighborhood and also abroad, as we have traveled to the Domincan Republic and Mexico City. The brokenness that we see in the city and the world firsthand is given theological underpinnings and hope as we read in the Bible about God’s justice and His work of reconciliation. Quiet times don’t just feed your soul but equip you for your day.
It’s a chance to take a risk and be stretched to love those you might usually avoid, to be known in community in ways that you might usually hide from, and to meet Jesus in ways that you might not have expected. Sure, you can spend a summer filing papers in an office or lifeguarding by a pool. But GUPY will give you a chance to be transformed from the inside out and to be a part of transforming a city, and you can’t put a price on that. Is God calling you to step out of the boat and swim with the GUPY’s?
Matthew 14:29 “Then Peter got down out of the boat and began to walk on the water and came towards Jesus.”
